Russian Visa Registration 

NB! All foreign visitors who are staying in Russia for a period of at least 3 working days need to be registered upon their arrival. 

Only if a foreigner is staying in Russia less than 3 working days, registration is not necessary.

According to Russian laws foreigners should register their visas within 3 working days upon arrival.

• If you are staying at a hotel, the hotel will automatically make the registration of your visa. The hotel registration can be provided free of charge or for a small fee.
• If you are staying privately (NOT at a hotel, BUT with friends or rent an apartment) and travel on a tourist visa, you will have to apply for registration to the organization which issued a visa support document for you. Because the organization that have made the invitation for you should be responsible for your visa registration.

The documents needed for registration are as follows: your passport with a valid Russian visa and migration card.

Please note:

• that not registering your Russian visa may lead to serious problems: detention by police, fines on departure, prevention from boarding the plane, etc. We strongly recommend you to register your Russian visa to avoid possible unnecessary inconveniences.

• you should be registered in each Russian city you visit if you stay there for 3 working days or longer.

Registration with us

If you are travelling to Russia using our Tourist Visa Support and you are not staying at hotel (i.e. you have booked private accommodation or you stay at your friends’ place), please, come to us on the 1st working day upon your arrival - and we will register your visa. This can be done at our office in St. Petersburg.

As usual to be registered you need to bring to our office your passport with valid Russian visa and migration card that should be filled in by yourself and stamped at the border control. The above mentioned documents will be photocopied by our manager and then returned to you. Your registration will be complete within 1-2 working days. Please, return to our office after the appropriate time and collect your registration coupon. 

If you need registration in some other Russian cities, please, contact us – and we will try to suggest you an appropriate agency for registration (if we have partners in these cities who could do it for you).

Please note:

• your registration (one for a single entrance visa and two for a double entrance visa) comes free with your invitation if you have ordered the invitation with us!
• every additional registration will cost you 800 roubles extra.
• If you have not used our tourist visa support or are travelling on business or student visa, you will have to pay us for registration 800 roubles per person.
• The registration can be done for 1 month maximum. If you need the registration for a longer period you will have to come to us again to prolong it. Such a prolongation will be done for you for the regular registration fee (800 roubles).

The registration document looks like a special coupon which should be filled in with the visa & migration card data of a foreign visitor by a representative of the host organization and then submit to the local Migration Services Department. This can be done in person or by post. At the Migration Service Department this registration coupon is signed and stamped and the data of a foreign visitor is entered in the registration database.  

The original of registration coupon is kept at the host organization, because it should be returned to the Migration Service Department after the departure of a foreign visitor. Thus the host organization provides the client with a copy of the registration coupon which is also valid for the police (if they stop a foreigner in the street to check his registration).

If you are moving about and visiting different cities where you are staying for at least 3 working days, you should do this registration procedure every time you change city.
